A follow-up report by the South West Tourism Research Company that looks at subsequent spending by tourists staying in self catering holiday accommodation and evaluates the economic impact of their spending on other goods and services. Roughly, for ever £1 spent on accommodation, another £1 is also spent on goods and services.

Published in October 2016, a report by the University of Greenwich demonstrates the economic value of self-catering holiday accommodation. Little research had previously been carried out to establish how much economic value is generated by tourism using self-catering holiday accommodation. This independent analysis provides a comprehensive survey of the market and shows that over 20,000 full-time equivalent jobs are sustained by self-catering holidays.
